Happy Birthday Grandma D!

Well, yes, Grandma D's birthday was March 18th and it's taken me more than a few months to update this blog since Trevor was born. I can honestly say it's been busy with 2 kids and we just completed having new windows, siding, gutters and garage door replaced at our house. Nathan & I are very happy with the finished product. Check out our adorable little munchkins!

TREVOR IS HERE!

After 3 different due dates came and went, Trevor Marshall Hart was born on Sunday October 17, 2010 at 6:24am. I am so relieved he is here! One of my due dates was 10-10-10 and I enjoyed telling people that was my due date, especially since Stella was born on 8-08-08. Well, that's what I get for tempting fate because I got my 10-10, but it was his weight, instead of his birthdate! (Actual weight was 10lbs. 9 oz.) And on October 10th, instead of having a baby, I got a cold! So, I was hoping that I wouldn't go into labor while battling a cold. I just didn't know how I would get through it, not being able to breathe through my nose. God was certainly watching over me then.
So, the following Saturday, Nathan and I took Stella to Indian Ladder Farms for apple cider, donuts and apples. It was a full day of activities. Around 11pm, I went to bed but couldn't really fall asleep. Finally went to the hospital at 3:30 and he was born 3 hrs. later! It was nothing short of a miracle. The nurses and midwife couldn't believe how big Trevor was. In the nursery he was known as the "Moose". The nurses had to dig up some size 1 diapers because he was already too big for the newborn size. He's a big healthy boy.
Mom, Dad and Stella are all well and adjusting to our new family dynamic. Thank you to everyone for their well wishes and prayers. We are so happy!

Trip to visit cousins in Virginia!

Well we did it! Susan, Stella, along with Susan's brothers Dave and John, and their father rented a van and drove to Virginia on a mission to hang out with the Ho's for a long weekend. Nathan wanted to reserve vacation time for the new baby's arrival in the fall so he stayed home. He hated to see us go so far away from him. Although, I think he enjoyed some quiet time in the house all by himself.

Hi Family & Friends - Sorry for staying away so long. Here are some recent pictures of Stella.
AND... Nathan & I have announced we are expecting our second child! Stella will be a big sister! I don't think she understands quite yet what that means, but I tell her there's a baby in my belly. At night when we are getting ready for bed, I tell her "kiss the baby goodnight" and she kisses my belly...oh, these moments are so precious and fleeting.

Stella turned 1-year old on August 8,2009. Friends and family gathered on a beautiful Saturday to wish Stella a 'Happy Birthday' and she didn't cry once! Here are some pics from her party at our house.

What a Difference a Trip to St. Louis Makes!

At the end of April, Nathan, Kathy and I drove with Stella to St. Louis to visit Uncle Ben & Aunt Kathryn and Stella's 5 cousins-Matthew, Gabe, Anna, Sophia, and Baby Jack, born in March. It was so nice to spend quality family time and see what St. Louis is like. The kids were so nice to Stella, showering her with love and affection from the moment we arrived. Stella, not being used to having so many little hands on her, was a little overwhelmed at first. She got used to it and I think it was a good experience for her and us!
Here are the highlights of our trip:

The Gateway Arch, located in downtown St. Louis and situated on a beautiful park setting was our favorite siteseeing spot. We liked it so much we went twice. The second time Nathan & I went to the top of the Arch with Gabe and Matthew. Stella stayed down below with Uncle Ben. In hindsight, we probably could've taken her up with us.

Fishing Trip to the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area--this is the point where the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers meet. Matthew is really good at catching frogs. Then he found out his Dad wanted them to use as bait for catching fish. He continued to catch the frogs, but refused to hand them over to be executed.

Impromptu photo session- I was popping potato chips in my mouth and Stella got such a kick out of it, so I grabbed my camera and tried to capture the moment here.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Everyone says how bad 2008 was, but Nathan and I agree it was one of our best years yet, with the arrival of our August baby. If the pessimism of the world has got you down, just look at the blessings that abound. We don't have to look far to find the love of family and friends, the security of a roof over our heads, our general health and happiness. Home is where the heart is!
Wow, having a baby and a new year can do profound things to one's perspective.

Our first Christmas Morning- Stella was more interested in eating the wrapping paper than discovering what was underneath it. She got some cool shoes from Grandma Kate so we had fun just taking pictures with her in her new kicks and pink Santa hat.

Stella met her cousins Kailey and Kira on Thanksgiving during their visit from VA. She'll meet 5 more cousins in St. Louis, MO this spring. So this was just a warm-up.

I can't wait to tell Stella she was born at the beginning of one of the worst bear markets in history. Believe it or not, she's been coming into the office with me a couple of days a week. She has no idea.....sometimes ignorance is bliss! This face says it all.
